On Sunday I went to T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, Petsmart and Target with my mother. I didn’t plan on shopping for anything for myself since she was at the first two places looking for Rae Dunn items and the second two for pet food and people food, but I ended up finding these Adidas NEO white on white sneakers for $34.99. Considering I paid nearly twice that for my black on white pair, I had to have them.
On Monday I helped my mother put away a bunch of peaches and cream corn. She bought one of those food saver things and we ended up with about 8 packages with four cobs of corn per bag. For the July 4th holiday, we had grilled corn and I don’t know that there’s anything that tastes better than that, honestly.
We’ve also bagged a dozen or so sliced green tomato packages for winter. She has so many ripe red tomatoes collected in her kitchen it boggles the mind. I suspect we’ll be canning those in the near future. I’m not really a raw tomato person but I love them in soups. It’s nice to have jars of stewed tomatoes to stews, chili, and spaghetti sauce in the winter time. They add such a fresh flavor.
I haven’t posted a meal plan post for this week because we have been kind of winging it with trying to catch up with the produce that’s rolling in. Last night for dinner we had Enchilada Stuffed Bell Peppers from Chef in Training using bell peppers from the garden. It was so good and different! I removed my cheese because I’m trying to cut back on dairy but I’m so looking forward to my leftovers for lunch today.
My week has been otherwise uneventful. I’ve had trouble sleeping for a few days but I think I’m getting back on track now. I’m currently reading Christina Lauren‘s Dating You/Hating You, which is delightful and funny, as expected. I’m also catching up on Big Strong Yes episodes. I missed the premiere of The Bold Type last night but I dvr’d it. I’m pretty excited to see where it goes because the previews look great. Anyone else watching it? Oh!!! As for music, I’m currently listening (nonstop) to HAIM’s Something To Tell You. What are you reading, listening to, and watching right now?
