Baby you’re a firework

It’s hard to believe it’s already July! Time just flies by faster and faster the older you get. I’m lucky that my office was closed both Monday and Tuesday for July 4th. On Monday we had some family over in the evening and roasted hot dogs and made smores. We also made vanilla ice cream, which I haven’t made in years. I have a lot of memories of making it at my granny’s house and cranking the ice cream maker. Thankfully we have one that doesn’t require cranking now!

My marshmallow was so ridiculously burnt but that’s how I love it. I actually only put two tiny squares of a hershey bar because I like less chocolate and more marshmallow. I only ate one but now I have major regrets about that. S’mores are my favorite and I could eat them practically every day. We definitely need to start utilizing our fire pit more for smores purposes. I want to start trying them out with different ingredients.

On Tuesday we had family over again but this time a little earlier in the day. We had way too much food cooked. Pulled pork, grilled pork chops, chicken breast, ribs, potato salad, pasta salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, and grilled corn. For desserts, we had apple pie, key lime pie, lemon meringue pie, berry pie, brownies, and cookies. To say it was ridiculous would be an understatement.

We didn’t have any fireworks either night but someone close by shot them well into the night. I partly understand people wanting to celebrate but it gets kind of annoying when they are still making so much noise at 11 pm. I’m an old lady and have a bed time.

How was your holiday? Did you shoot fireworks or go to a firework show?

Meal Planning, week 1

So ok, I’ve been wanting to start meal planning for The Longest Time and finally did it last week, for this week. I’m sharing a few photos of recipes we used this week (so far). Monday was Baked Sweet and Sour Chicken from Damn Delicious, which we added carrots and broccoli too. It turned out so […]

New start

It’s me again, Margaret. I decided to start with a new domain name; one that is perhaps easier to remember and more all encompassing for everything I may plan to do in the future. Right now it’s pretty basic around here but I have my eye on a custom logo for the header as well […]

TBEX Huntsville Alabama

This weekend there is a little travel bloggers conference happening in Huntsville Alabama. When I call it “little” I’m being somewhat sarcastic because it is far from little. The TBEX conference is around 500 people and occurs all over the world and showcases speakers from various aspects of travel, seminars, classes, and a plethora of […]

Woof and meow

This evening when I came from work these two wouldn’t leave their post in front of the front door. There was nothing else for me to do but grab my camera and start taking pictures. Allie [dog] wasn’t interested in the least, but Jasper [cat] likes the attention.   When he flares his whiskers out […]

Wrecking Havoc and playing with Lightroom

I’ve been attending hockey games for my towns SPHL team this season. Since I’ve been trying to get more use out of my camera I decided to pull it out during this past weekend’s playoff game. These guys have played their hearts out this season and I’m so proud of them and everyone involved with […]

All the fur

So here I am, finally, trying to get this thing going again. I keep thinking about it, then forgetting, then remembering, then putting it off. Not that I don’t want to get started blogging again, because I do, but internet, I am lazy. That’s the honest truth. Also, the house I’ve lived in the last […]

Weekend Update

How is it almost May already?! Not much going on around here during the weekend. I’ve spent a good bit of time trying to finish reading The Shadows by J.R. Ward so I can get caught up on those books. I finished it at 2 am Sunday morning because I’d made it to a point where […]
